Divisibility patterns of natural numbers on a complex network

Investigation of divisibility properties of natural numbers is one of the most important themes in the theory of numbers. Various tools have been developed over the centuries to discover and study the various patterns in the sequence of natural numbers in the context of divisibility. In the present paper, we study the divisibility of natural numbers using the framework of a growing complex netw...

Divisibility of characteristic numbers

We use homotopy theory to define certain rational coefficients characteristic numbers with integral values, depending on a given prime number q and positive integer t . We prove the first nontrivial degree formula and use it to show that existence of morphisms between algebraic varieties for which these numbers are not divisible by q give information on the degree of such morphisms or on zero c...

On Divisibility of Narayana Numbers by Primes

Using Kummer’s theorem, we give a necessary and sufficient condition for a Narayana number to be divisible by a given prime. We use this to derive certain properties of the Narayana triangle. 1 The main theorem Let N denote the nonnegative integers and let k, n ∈ N. The Narayana numbers [10, A001263] can be defined as N(n, k) = 1 n (

Divisibility of generalized Catalan numbers

We define a q generalization of weighted Catalan numbers studied by Postnikov and Sagan, and prove a result on the divisibility by p of such numbers when p is a prime and q its power.

Divisibility of Function Field Class Numbers

Let X → S be an abelian scheme over a finite field. We show that for a set of rational primes l of density one, if q ≡ 1 mod l is sufficiently large, then the proportion of s ∈ S(Fq) for which l| ∣Xs(Fq) ∣∣ is at least 1/l−O(1/l2). We apply this to study class numbers of cyclic covers of the projective line.
